Jack Nixon was pleased with a sixth placed finish during his debut outing in the National Superstock 600 Championship.
Racing at Donington Park, the 19-year-old from Folkestone was experiencing his first weekend in race conditions on the 600cc bike.
The Kawasaki rider said: “With this being my first weekend racing in a 600 class I didn’t know what to expect.
“To be sixth at this early stage of the season is a great start for me and the team. I’d like to thank all of my sponsors for getting me here and allowing me to race.”
Nixon qualified eighth fastest for the race, unable to build on a good first lap after being caught up in traffic.
“It was still a good position for my first qualifying,” he commented.
Confidence was high on Sunday, particularly after warming up third fastest, and he made a great start to the race itself, moving his way up to fourth from his eighth place grid start.
He dropped back to sixth after being caught up in an incident which is where he finished, from a field of 36 riders.
Snetterton hosts round two on August 23.
