Bradley Ray was back among the Superbike World Championship points in the Czech Republic at the weekend.

Lydd’s Yamaha Motoxracing rider took a point - his first since the Dutch round at Assen three months ago - with 15th place in race two at Most, taking his tally to three points for the season alongside Italy’s Michele Pirro in the championship standings.

The result followed a 16th-placed finish in Sunday’s Superpole race and means Ray can look ahead to the next round in Portugal with confidence, whereas he headed to the Czech Republic on the back of a disappointing home round at Donington Park the previous week.

“I’m pleased with today’s races,” he said. “We made significant progress with the bike and were able to be consistent in terms of lap times.

“If I’d had a better qualifying, I’d have been able to stick with the top 10, which is positive. We’ll continue to work like this at Portimao so that we keep closing the gap to those ahead.”

The weekend started with a best practice position of 11th, although in the Superpole qualifying Ray finished in 21st place with a time of 1min32.216sec.

In race one he got away well from row seven but struggled to find any rhythm - although he made up two places to finish 19th.

Team principal Sandro Carusi added: “[It’s been] a positive day. In the sprint race, we were able to run very close to the points zone, while in race two we scored a precious point that serves to boost morale as we move forward with the championship."

The season continues at the Autodromo Internacional Algarve on August 9-11.
