Striker Lawrence to join Hythe Town?
00:00, 07 February 2002
FOLKESTONE Invicta striker Steve Lawrence looks likely to join neighbours Hythe Town in the Bass Brewers Kent League. Lawrence, a prolific goalscorer at Cheriton, has not featured for the club this season as he has been unable to commit himself to Invicta's hectic programme of long away games.
But Invicta will keep his Southern League registration releasing him to play in the Kent League. His wife is expecting a baby this year and the club have wished him well.
He had a tremendous strike rate of 86 goals in 192 games for Invicta but seemed set to retire from senior football in the summer after coming back from a broken leg suffered last March.
But he has been active in local football and Town hope he will provide the cutting edge to get them moving back up the table.
