Folkestone Invicta full-back Josh Vincent about to reach 300 appearances for the Ryman League Division 1 South club
00:00, 04 March 2015
Josh Vincent is about to reach 300 appearances for Folkestone Invicta and he’s determined to mark the milestone by helping them back to the Ryman League Premier Division.
Vincent has just turned 25, yet he’s one of the most experienced players at the club, having become a fixture at right-back over the last six years.
Individual milestones are one thing but after three successive seasons of play-off heartache, Vincent is hungry for team success at the fourth attempt.
He said: "It does feel like an achievement (reaching 300 games), especially to do it at one club.
"I’ve got no desire to move on. Folkestone are one of the biggest clubs, up there with Maidstone. No disrespect to Herne Bay or Faversham but I still think Folkestone are bigger than them. Now it’s time to prove it by going up."
Vincent is joined in the 300 club at the Fullicks Stadium by midfielder Micheal Everitt (593) and defenders Liam Friend (436) and Frankie Chappell (378).
In the transient world of non-league football, loyalty at Folkestone stands out.
Vincent said: "People come here and they enjoy it. Cugs (Neil Cugley) is quite laid-back but straight away (as a new player) you know that you’re aiming for the play-offs. You want something to play for every season and people understand that Folkestone should make the play-offs.
"That’s why Ronnie (Dolan) and Ashley (Miller) came here because they want to play play-off football and get to the next level.
"Folkestone are a big club and I hope this time, we can take it forward to the Premier – and stay there."
