Wesley Shrubsole angling: The freshwater crocodile
06:00, 20 November 2020
The picture shows the last thing your pike bait sees before being swallowed whole - what a mouth.
This low double-figured pike was caught by a sensible angler using gloves to protect their hands - a very good idea if you want to continue to use your fingers to count to ten!
You can see why it is known as the freshwater crocodile.
Meanwhile, Cinque Ports Angling Club in Hythe has received the bad news that this season will be their last on the pools at Beachborough.
After many many years of looking after these lakes, the owner has decided to run them as a commercial fishery, so quite a few anglers will still be able to visit the lakes albeit at a charge.
The club has the stunning lake at Stanford for its members to continue to enjoy and over 12 miles of the Royal Military Canal.
