Well-dressed spivs, lindy hoppers, evacuees and Home Guard volunteers turned out at New Tavern Fort in Gravesend to relive the days of the 1940s.
The Fort in the Forties event included living history displays and vintage vehicles throughout the weekend, while visitors were also able to look inside the historic artillery fort’s tunnels.
There was also plenty of music from the era, sing-a-longs, dance performances and lessons, recipe tips on how to make your rations into tasty meals, plus plenty of vintage items for sale.
Refreshments – including tea served in tin mugs – were available from the Naafi wagon.
