A tail of six toes

They may not be purrrfect but they will certainly give their new owners paws for thought.
Pudding, Brenda and Niall are looking for a new home along with their mum, after their owner became ill to care for them.
These cute kittens might be a bit of a handful, thanks to a genetic mutation which has given them all an extra toe on each paw.
The five-week-old fur balls are cat-egorised as 'Polydactyl cats', because they have six toes on each paw, rather than the usual five.
But it's not all bad - the trio are feline pretty special at the cattery at Battersea Brands Hatch.
Debbie Coker works in the cattery and said: "They are very sweet kittens and will definitely get lots of attention.
"We sometimes see cats coming in with an extra digit on one paw, but to get three kittens in a litter with extra toes on all four paws is quite unusual."
They may need slightly bigger boots than the average puss, but aside from that they're normal and healthy.
Pudding, Brenda and Niall will be ready for rehoming once they are nine weeks old.
So if, like us, you think it's an extra thumbs up to the trio, contact Battersea Brands Hatch about adopting them on 01474 874994 or visit www.battersea.org.uk.
‘Kitten season’, the busiest time of year for the cattery, is approaching as cats start breeding in the warmer months.
Debbie Coker continued: "Sadly people aren’t getting their cats neutered and rescue centres like Battersea are left to pick up the pieces.
"Our three centres are currently inundated with unwanted cats and we are desperate for more homes."
If you can help give homes to any of abandoned cats, get in touch with Battersea Brands Hatch.
