All aboard for shrimpers regatta
00:00, 26 August 2004
THE Gravesend Shrimpers Regatta was hailed as a huge success as visitors watched teams battle it out on the river and danced to international and local music groups.
Filled with glorious sunshine, thousands of people descended on Gordon Promenade to enjoy the cultural mix of music that included specially flown-in Indian stars Raghau and Kuldip Manak as well as Gravesend based Wasted Aces and Gambler.
Swarms of girls greeted pop group Lyrical Mirical and Parwinder Dhami in extraordinary scenes late on Saturday evening.
During both days of the two day event, a fun fair, stall holders and children's five a side football entertained the crowds.
