The demand for social care in Gravesham remains at a high level which in turn requires experienced health care professionals.
Austen Allem Homecare, based in Northfleet, says that whilst recruitment can be challenging it is vital to seek high calibre staff to a profession where Care Professionals are responsible for adhering to a huge range of policies, procedures and government legislation, with potentially severe repercussions if there are any breaches.
Owner Nina Allen who has been in the industry for many years, says the firm supports its team with Skills Council-led training, updates and progression opportunities. Many applications come through ‘word of mouth’ in addition to standard advertising methods.
She said: “We also strive to support our care professionals by operating an ‘open door policy’ where employees can visit the office whenever they feel necessary or even to have an informal chat and light refreshment.
“All senior staff and managers have worked as care professionals with Austen Allen Homecare before being promoted internally.”
The company is also developing a reablement service which will assist people who require intense support after being discharged from hospital after experiencing a stroke, fall or bone fracture breakages.
Long term, the organisation will develop the reablement service throughout North Kent and aims to open a further branch in Kent.
