08:00, 07 October 2010
Racing fans are in for a treat this weekend as Ben Collins, formerly The Stig from BBC Television’s Top Gear, makes his British Touring Cars debut in the season finale at Brands Hatch.
Collins is driving for Wrotham-based Airwaves-BMW alongside Mat Jackson and Steven Kane as they bid to win the independent teams’ title at their home track.
In another first, four drivers – Silverline Chevrolet’s Jason Plato, Team Aon Ford’s Tom Onslow-Cole and the Honda Racing Civics of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden – all have a chance of becoming this year’s BTCC champion in the closest finish in the competition’s 50-year history.
Championship honours will also be decided in the Ginetta Junior Championship, where Kent’s 16-year-old Jake Hill will be fighting for glory, and the Formula Renault UK and the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
Qualifying is on Saturday, with race day on Sunday. Tickets are on sale from £24 adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
