Police are urging people to "beware of lottery scams" after a suspected fraudster was reported.
It is alleged a woman attempted to defraud a man in Trinity Road, Gravesend, on Tuesday, March 26.
The known technique is used across the country.
A woman is said to have approached the man at around 12pm, and presented him with a lottery ticket.
The man suspected the woman was going to pretend it was a winning ticket and offer it to him for cash, claiming she could not collect the money due to her immigration status.
Kent Police spokesman James Walker said: "At no point was money exchanged and at present no arrests have been made."
Officers are asking people to remain "vigilant", and not to withdraw cash for a stranger.
