A person has died after being found on railway tracks which led to a huge emergency service response.
Trains were delayed between Swanley and Rochester as police and paramedics were called to Meopham station at about 9.30pm yesterday.
A private ambulance was later spotted outside the station.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the casualty was a man or woman or how old they were and officers are working to identify the victim and their next of kin.
They were pronounced dead at the scene and police say they are investigating how they came to their death.
Major delays of several hours were reported as trains were blocked from running along the line and led to issues on the network across Kent.
Replacement buses were brought in at about 11.30pm.
Southeastern said the lines had been cleared by 3am allowing this morning's services to run as scheduled.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to Meopham railway station at 10.15pm on December 12 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to identify the deceased and establish the full circumstances behind their death."
