Conmen claiming to be collecting money on behalf of a council have targeted several homes.
Residents of three properties in the Gravesham area have reported bogus workers knocking on doors, claiming to be collecting money on behalf of Gravesham council.
The police have been informed.
Gravesham councillor, John Knight, cabinet member for community safety, said: “While the council does use contractors to carry out visits, anyone working on behalf of the council is required to carry formal identification and documents which confirms that they have the authority to act on the council’s behalf.
“Do not hand over any payments unless you are completely satisfied that the caller is acting on the council’s behalf.”
Anyone with doubts about callers claiming to be collecting money on behalf of the authority have been advised to ring customer services on 01474 337000.
