Ebbsfleet United recorded their first win of the season with a dramatic 3-2 victory at Braintree on Monday afternoon.

Fleet won despite twice being behind at Cressing Road against the side who were promoted as champions from Blue Square Bet South last season.

Jai Reason twice put Town in front but Tom Phipp, Scott Ginty and Calum Willock (pictured) were on the mark to make it four games without defeat for Fleet in Blue Square Bet Premier.

Ricky Shakes and Joe Howe both went close to opening the scoring, but Reason broke the deadlock on 15 minutes from the spot after Clint Easton fouled Sean Marks in the area.

Shakes went close to a leveller with a header which was saved, while Preston Edwards denied Andy Yiadom at the other end before the break.

Fleet looked dangerous after the interval and equalised on the hour when Phipp converted a penalty after Willock was fouled by Adam Bailey-Dennis.

Liam Envur-Marum's initial attempt was saved, though Phipp was given the chance to make amends after the officials spotted encroachment.

Town retook the lead with 20 minutes remaining, Reason tapping home at the back post after the hosts struck the woodwork, and Edwards denied Chib Chilaka as the hosts sought a third 11 minutes from time.

However, Fleet drew level from their second spot-kick three minutes from the end when Ginty found the net after a foul on Willock, and it was Willock who stole the points in the final minute when he headed home Phipp's set-piece, leaving Fleet to see out eight minutes of added time to secure the points.
