A construction worker died during an incident at a building site in an old quarry, an inquest has heard.
Liam McArdle, from Gravesend, suffered fatal injuries while working at the Ebbsfleet Quarry near Bean last month.
An inquest into the 24-year-old's death opened at County Hall in Maidstone this morning by assistant coroner Alan Blundson.
He said: "It appears there was an incident on the quarry building site where an excavator was being operated and he suffered injuries."
Mr Blundson said Mr McArdle suffered multiple trauma injuries, adding: "The circumstances are such that I can open an inquest as an incident at work involving multiple injuries."
The inquest was adjourned until March 2022.
An investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive and the police following Mr McArdle's death on September 21.
An HSE spokesman confirmed the authority is assisting Kent Police in the inquiry.
