A burglar who repeatedly broke into the same schools, stealing more than £100,000 worth of computers and other equipment, has been jailed for five years.

Lynton Notley-Baker on three occasions left behind footprints that led to him being identified.

The 28-year-old and others raided Thamesview School in Thong Lane, Gravesend, Knole Academy in Bradbourne Vale Road, Sevenoaks, and St George’s School in Pembury Road, Tunbridge Wells.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the offences dated back to late 2013 and early 2014.

In the burglaries at Thamesview School on October 18, December 1, December 29 and December 31, 2013 he and accomplices stole computers and iPods worth almost £30,000 and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Knole Academy was burgled on November 2, December 16, 2013, and on January 18 2014.

Apple Mac computers and laptops stolen, along with other equipment, totalled £72,527.

"This had a knock on effect to the pupils whose course work and examination preparations were disrupted," - Detective Constable Rex Dinnage

In burglaries at St George’s School on November 13 2013, and January 2014, cash, cameras and laptops were stolen.

Notley-Baker, of Redpoll Way, Erith, admitted conspiracy to burgle and was sentenced by Judge Philip St John-Stevens on Monday.

Detective Constable Rex Dinnage, the investigating officer for this case, said: "Notley-Baker continued to repeatedly target schools in their quest for these computers, which not only severely impacted the schools' budgets and ability to teach, but also had the knock on effect to the pupils whose course work and examination preparations were disrupted due to these valuable assets being stolen by the burglars."
