One lane is closed coastbound on the A2 due to a burst water main.
The Highways Agency has shut the lane closest to the central reservation between Gravesend and Rochester so workers can fix the problem.
The 18 inch pipe burst was reported at 5.15pm this morning. The cause is currently unknown.
Southern Water is on the scene and has started excavating the area to find the cause of the problem.
According to the Highways Agency website delays are being caused between the A227 and the junction with the M2 because of flooding.
Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume by 2pm today.
