The Gravesham River Festival is back and bigger than ever, and it is bringing with it… B*Witched!

The council-run summer festival is one of the highlights on the Gravesend calender and attracts hundreds of fans each year.

It returns this Saturday to the Gordon Promenade and the adjoining Fort Gardens, with more musical performances than ever before.

Nineties Irish girl band B*Witched will headline a selection of local and well known artists on the main stages, while a DJ will keep the dance tent lively throughout the day.

Twins Edele and Keavy Lynch, who make up half the group, starred in Robin Hood at the Woodville last Christmas and are looking forward to returning to the town.

Keavy said: “We are really looking forward to playing in Gravesend again this summer. Gravesham, get ready to party with B*Witched.”

The two main stages will be jam-packed with performances including a tribute to David Bowie alongside Fake That and Just Bieber.

For families wanting to try out more hands-on activities, you can try juggling, spinning a couple of plates and even attempt to stand on stilts during a circus workshop.

There will be plenty of fun for the children, with traditional treats including a helter skelter, and funfair rides for the more daring.

Ponies can be ridden around the promenade and there will be a magnificent bird display.

The festival is not just a bunch of fun and games, but also offers an educational opportunity for the council’s apprentices who will showcase the Interface Experience, a taster of how a youth market may operate where young traders can sell their unique products.

There will be plenty of food stalls scattered, including cakes and a traditional hog roast.

The fun begins at 11am on Saturday, with performances continuing into the evening.
