A driver smashed into a bollard, wrecking the front of the car and causing an almighty bang - before ripping off the number plate and leaving the scene.

Police were called after the car smashed into the post before being abandoned in Burch Road, Northfleet.

The driver of the Volvo S40 hit a large block, with Lansdowne Square carved into it for the overlooking flats, as well as the bollard.
