Officers investigating damage to a clock tower have released an image of a man they want to talk to.

Between October 26 and 27, the glass lamps at the bottom of Gravesend's iconic Clock Tower were smashed by vandals.

Police are now appealing for help to find a man they believe may have important information regarding the damage.

There was disappointment when it was announced the spire would not be illuminated for this year's Remembrance Day commemoration and Diwali celebrations.

After the incident, chairman of Gravesham Labour and cabinet member for community and leisure, Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox, said: "We are disappointed that a mindless act means we cannot light the Clock Tower for two such important dates.

"We are doing all we can to identify those responsible, and when we do we will seek a prosecution for criminal damage and to recover the costs of repairs.

"We will not tolerate acts such as this."

However, a firm came to the rescue at the eleventh hour and fixed the lights in time for the two events.
