Ebbsfleet International has one of the most expensive railway station car parks in the country.

Parking your vehicle at the high speed station for one day could cost you as much as £12.60 for a premium spot, which puts it top of the charts in Kent and fifth in the UK, according to complaints service Revolver.

Want such a space for the week? That will set you back £49.30, with month-long passes at £159.40, and a whopping price of £1,605.50 for a year.

Cheaper rates are available in the station’s other car parks, but they still rank among the county’s priciest.

The only stations to top Ebbsfleet in Revolver’s rankings are Brighton, Guildford, Southampton Airport Parkway, and Reading, which commands an eye-watering £23.70 to secure a space for a day.

Resolver founder James Walker said: “With increases on the horizon on everything from household goods to mortgage costs, the people I speak to are really concerned about making ends meet in 2017.

“Though train and parking companies can’t be forced to reduce their prices, you can still recoup some of your losses by remembering your rights and claiming for refunds if you’re delayed or making a complaint if you face an unfair parking charge.”

The figures were released little over a week after rail fares in the UK increased by an average of 2.3%.

Commuters heading into London St Pancras from Ebbsfleet on a weekday during peak times can now expect to pay £32.80 for a return ticket, meaning a whopping total cost of £45.40 if they park at the station too.

Some of Ebbsfleet’s car parks are cheaper, at £9.40 a day, while car park D – the furthest walk from the station – has a flat 24-hour rate of £5.30. Evening rates 6pm-2am are £1.50.
