Firefighters were called to Springhead Road, Northfleet, after a bonfire spread to a house.
Crews from Dartford and Gravesend attended after being called at around 1.40pm.
The fire damaged windows and guttering but only smoke damage to the rest of the building before it was extinguished.
Crew manager Kevin Porter said a bonfire in the back garden had been left unattended and spread to the back of the house, through a window.
He said the house was unoccupied when fire crews attended, and issued safety advice to others thinking of having garden fires.
"Now that we've got the dry weather, if bonfires aren't supervised they can get out of hand," he added.
"If the wind changes direction fires can spread fairly quickly. If you do have a fire make sure it's far enough away from buildings, that it's supervised and that you've got a means of extinguishing it."
