Childhood pals on their way from Gravesend to Land's End to help children with cancer

08:00, 02 July 2016

Two friends are continuing an epic charity cycle ride from Gravesend to Land’s End in memory of Stacey Mowle.

Artist Jay Pritchard, 37, of Riverview Park, is riding to Cornwall with childhood pal Dennis Woodgate, 38, of High Street, Northfleet to raise money for Stacey’s Smiles, set up after the youngster’s death last year.

They set off from Tri the Bike Shop in Windmill Street on Saturday and have so far cycled through Kent, Surrey and Hampshire.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, Jay said: “It has been going really well. We have got our T-shirts on with all the details and people have stopped to ask us about it.

“This is certainly the longest ride I have ever made. We just hope it makes the lives of these children a little better.”

The pair have already smashed their fundraising target, with £1,300 pledged so far, which will go towards supporting children with neuroblastoma cancer.
