A driver has been arrested on suspicion of taking a car without consent after an accident on the A2 this morning.
Police said the suspect, a 19-year-old from Canterbury, was taken to hospital and then arrested following the crash on the London-bound carriageway at around 5.20am.
There was heavy congestion in the area from junction 1 of the M2 at Strood to the A227 for Gravesend and the Tollgate services, but delays had cleared by 8.30am.
A picture showing the mangled wreckage of the car, which crashed over a roadside barrier, has been posted on social media by Kent Police's roads unit.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a single vehicle collision on the A2 London-bound, at Cobham, at 5.21am on Friday 9 December.
"The South East Coast Ambulance service also attended and the driver, a man, has been taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries that are not reported to be serious."
He added: "A 19-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent. He was street bailed until 14 December 2016."
