Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish full of praise for opposing striker Danny Kedwell

LIAM DAISH will cast an envious eye the way of AFC Wimbledon’s Danny Kedwell on Saturday, convinced that such a player would transform his team’s fortunes.
In the week when he lamented the lack of a cutting edge after Saturday’s disappointing goalless draw against Forest Green Rovers, the Fleet boss pointed to Kedwell as a player who can make the essential difference between success and failure at any club.
The 26-year-old Gillingham-born striker, who was playing in the Medway Messenger Sunday League for Quested not so long ago, is proof that gems can be unearthed at grassroots level.
Eight-goal Kedwell leads the Dons’ attack before an anticipated packed house at Stonebridge Road on Saturday with glowing praise from Daish.
He said: "Since last week’s draw with Forest Green I’ve been asked what type of striker would turn our season around. Well, Danny Kedwell would.
"He’s big, strong, powerful, and not afraid to go in where it hurts. He’s my kind of striker.
"But such players do not come cheap and he’s with a club that enjoys a big playing budget. We need a selfish striker, confident of sticking the ball in the back of the net, that’s the priority.
"Because we have so many new players it’s taking time to bed the side down and develop a rapport.
"But if we can put a winning run together, we’ll speed up that rapport because confidence is everything in this game.
"In the meantime, I shall keep scouring the market in the hope of finding a bargain because they are out there. Danny Kedwell proved that."
