Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish admitted it had been a tough decision to recommend the sale of star players Michael Gash and Darius Charles.

MyFootballClub members have been voting this week on whether to accept an £80,000 bid for the duo from an unnamed Blue Square Premier rival club.

Voting closes on Wednesday lunchtime and the deal could be completed later this week if members decide in favour of a sale.

The Fleet had previously turned down several offers for Gash and Charles but Daish (pictured) said agreeing to sell the pair together has seen them get a better deal to consider.

"It was a tough decision," said Daish. "We’ve obtained a better financial package by selling them together.

"It gives me more options and a scenario that I can work with."

Daish’s weekly budget, which was reduced to £4,000, has risen to around £4,500 with donations since the end of last season.

However, the club are well short of their £7,000 aim and MyFootballClub members have been told that if the deal goes through, Daish’s budget will rocket up to £6,250 as the fees are put straight back into the club.
