Ebbsfleet hope to have some more new faces in the squad for Saturday’s tough Blue Square Premier trip to Barrow.

Liam Daish’s side are in a wretched run of form and after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Cambridge United, they have now failed to score in seven of their past nine games.

They have only scored eight goals in 16 games all season and have not scored in the four away league games since August.

The trip to Cumbria will be a stern test as Barrow are unbeaten in their last three home games against high-fliers Oxford, York and Mansfield.

Daish, pictured, arranged a training match against Barnet on Monday and will hold another practice match today (Thursday) with a view to running the rule over potential new signings and allowing other teams to look at his players.

Chairman Duncan Holt revealed Daish was hopeful of signing some new faces to add to the capture of experienced former Luton midfielder Peter Holmes, who made his Fleet debut at Abbey Stadium last Saturday.

Holt said: "Liam has been working hard on it and hopefully there will be some new additions in time for the game at Barrow."

Holmes started out with Sheffield Wednesday in 1997 before playing more than 100 league games for Luton, including a season in the Championship

He has since had spells with Chesterfield, Lincoln, Rotherham and ended last season with York City.

Fleet face a tricky derby clash with Blue Square South side Bromley in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The tie at Hayes Lane, Fleet’s fifth away draw in six seasons, will take place next Saturday (October 24).

Bromley have won the past two meetings between the sides, a 1-0 win in pre-season this summer and a 3-2 victory in the 2006 Kent Senior Cup final.

Holt said: "We would like to have been drawn against the worst team possible at home because we want to progress but then we could have had Oxford or Stevenage away.

"It is what it is. We’ll make the best of it, hopefully there’ll be
a big crowd and we can get through."

Meanwhile Fleet youngsters Steven Springett and Jamie Forshaw have signed one-month loan deals with Ryman League Division 1 South side Ashford Town.
