Ebbsfleet United boss Liam Daish wary of threat from Chester in FA Trophy
08:00, 12 January 2012
Liam Daish says FA Trophy opponents Chester have a "winning habit" that has to be respected, despite them operating one division lower than Ebbsfleet.
The 2008 champions face the in-form visitors on Saturday, arriving top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League – a new club on the rise again – following Chester City’s demotion from the Conference in February 2010, before being being wound-up a month later and their record expunged.
The whole episode had a knock-on effect on Fleet, who lost points leading to their relegation, before bouncing back at the first attempt, as play-off champions last season.
The Fleet boss (pictured) watched Chester’s 4-0 win at Walsall-based Rushall Olympic on Saturday.
He said: "They know how to win a game which is a good habit to have, whatever league you compete in.
"It was a good chance to see what they do and how they play. They have got decent players, with good vocal support and are a club on the up.
"I learnt a few things about them but it’s really all about us and what we do on the day."
Striker Liam Enver-Marum misses out due to a one-match ban, extended by two weeks because of the abandonment of the Hayes & Yeading game at Woking on New Year’s Day and having no game last weekend.
