Ebbsfleet begin their pre-season campaign at Aveley on Tuesday – and the players involved can expect a longer than usual first run-out.

Fleet manager Liam Daish, pictured, said: "For various reasons we haven’t got so many pre-season games this year, so it’s important that the lads all get at least 70 minutes at Aveley to get some match fitness.

"We’ll have a few trialists but I won’t be taking a big squad there."

Aveley are now managed by a familiar face to Fleet followers, former assistant manager Alan Kimble who took charge of the Essex club in May.

The Fleet players have had four training sessions so far, with Daish saying: "The first two were all about putting the players through some hard work but we’ve got the ball out in the last two."

The Fleet boss said he was hopeful of making a couple of signings by the weekend, adding: "I’m looking for a midfielder, a striker and a full-back."

Ebbsfleet’s friendly at Chatham has been re-arranged for Tuesday, August 10, kick-off 7.45pm.
