Explosive demolition takes down part of Tilbury Power Station across the river from Gravesend
09:24, 01 February 2018
Another explosion took place at Tilbury Power Station this morning.
The latest work, the ninth so far, happened at 9am.
The controlled demolition simultaneously brought down two separate units, which were made of steel and concrete and about 43 metres long by 14 metres wide and 27 metres high.
It is the other half of the structure which was brought down in November, and was considered to be low impact.
The other main structures, including the boiler houses, are due to be brought down through 2018 and into 2019.
The complete demolition of the site is expected in 2019.
