It's Armed Forces Day today so join in the festivities and show them yours support.

Show your support for the people who protect the country, during a fun day for all the family.

Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday and is a chance to thank and celebrate men and women from the armed forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans to cadets.

There will be activities running at the Royal British Legion in London Road, Greenhithe. From 1pm there will be a party bus, fire engine, barbecue, entertainment, stalls, face painting and more.

Flags were flown in Community Square, Gravesend, on Monday, June 20, the flags were raised by a veteran and a cadet to salute British forces.

Deputy leader Cllr David Turner, who is responsible for community engagement, said: “This is an important event for us – a chance for Gravesham to acknowledge the work of the armed forces and to demonstrate that we are behind them.

“We’re proud to be involved and look forward to the community joining us.”

The Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Greta Goatley, gave the opening address alongside the Rev Canon Christopher Stone.

There was also be music from the Gravesend Borough Band.
