It was time to forget that beach body you were working on ahead of your summer holiday as the Munchies food festival tempted visitors to try something new.
Cobham was the backdrop as Mayor of Gravesham Cllr Mick Wenban officially got the event under way on Saturday afternoon, with visitors treated to live music and tasty local cuisine.
More than 70 of Kent’s finest culinary creators gathered under the sunshine in the grounds of Meadow Court and there was plenty to dig into. Foodies were invited to tuck into all manner of snacks, from pickles and pies to fudge, cakes and ice cream, as well as sample the county’s best wine and beer.
Those more conscious of their waistlines still had plenty to enjoy thanks to competitions, arts and crafts stalls, and a petting zoo.
Local children’s author Robert Walker was also on hand to inspire youngsters with the written word.
Event organiser Matt Peterson-Pearce said: “I am enthusiastic about Munchies’ growing success balanced with its continuing charm.
“This is a celebration of Kent and everyone coming along brings is their very own piece of the party atmosphere.”
Munchies is in its fourth year and shows no sign of slowing down, much to the relief of The Meadow Room.
As well as being fun for all who attend, Munchies also helps the venue by raising money for its continued maintenance and development.
The Meadow Room houses a pre-school, youth club, Brownies, and supports lots of other groups, which all benefit from the success of Munchies.
