Game over for another Kent town as retailer bids farewell to Gravesend
09:01, 12 July 2017
Retailer Game is to shut another of its Kent stores.
Following on from its departure from the Priory Shopping Centre in Dartford earlier this year, the struggling business has confirmed it will bid farewell to Gravesend this Saturday, July 15.
There is not yet any word on what might replace it.
Last summer, the New Road store's neighbouring Claire's Accessories also shut, but was quickly replaced by jewellery outlet Warren James.
Business has been slow for Game across the UK in recent times, with reports last month that profits were falling well short of expectations and share prices had dropped to just 24p.
It remains the country's biggest specialist games retailer and still has a number of other stores in Kent, including Bluewater and Chatham.
