And, while three of them are already serving sentences of seven years or more, the 28-year-old has had to wait.

Now Maow, of St George's Court, East Ham, London has been told that because of the delay, Judge Catherine Moore has cut his sentence by six months.

He has received a jail term of six years and nine months after being convicted of the robbery.

The court heard how other gang members including Maow and David Akande travelled in convoy with two other cars to an address in Mercury Close near Shorts Way, Borstal on February 4, 2021.

Maow, Akande, 34, Mahei Ahmad, Thami Ngqobongwana and another unidentified man then forced their way into a house where one of them punched a man after demanding money.

After the victim gave over his wallet, which contained two two credit cards, his mother was also threatened before the gang fled the premises as a terrified teenager locked herself in an upstairs room.

The court heard how police were alerted and officers established that some of the offenders had been using a smart car, which was later stopped by a patrol on the A2 near Bean.

The driver, Ahmad, and his passenger, Maow, were arrested and the stolen bank cards were recovered from under one of the seats along with a quantity of cannabis.

Maow, who plans to attend university, denied going into the house or being armed.

On April 29, 2022, at the same court, Ngqobongwana was jailed for seven years and on May 5, 30-year-old Ahmad was sentenced to seven years and three months’ imprisonment.

On Monday, January 16, 2023, Akande was jailed for six years and ten months.
