A new scheme for apprentices has been launched at Kent's Garden City.
The training is designed for apprentices currently working for employers in Ebbsfleet Garden City, between Dartford and Gravesend, where there are plans for 15,000 homes when complete.
It invites them to join an “aspirational, value added apprenticeship programme” offering experience and learning, alongside their core nationally recognised qualification.
Lara Pool, skills co-ordinator at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) said: “We want to support apprentices to feel part of the greater Garden City development and its ethos and develop pride in their contribution to the inclusive growth in the local area.
“Not only will apprentices be supported and learn new skills, but the scheme is also aimed at increasing retention and completion rates.”
The scheme is aimed at apprentices in the Garden City employed by partner developers, contractors and sub-contractors, as well as EDC apprentices and all ages working in construction, trades, support and professional programmes in the built environment, on L2 to L7 qualifications can apply join.
Any activity will count towards their 20% of the job training requirement and will include a three-day induction programme, time with EDC there will be a mentor for each apprentice and an apprentice of the month award.
The scheme is not for delivery of the apprenticeship qualifications, it is to support the apprentices as an added value element to their apprenticeship programmes.
