A mother has been left "upset and angry" after the ice skates her daughter needs for a competition next month were stolen from the boot of her car.

Jane Watts, 42, has slammed the thief who took her daughter's skates and ransacked her car while it sat on their drive in Frobisher Way, Greenhithe.

It happened on the night of Wednesday April 10, as the family slept.

Now her 12-year-old daughter Blaise, who trains up to four times a week in Gillingham, can’t prepare for her competition next month until she gets some new boots.

Even then, the mother has said it will take some time for the Longfield Academy student to break them in.

Mrs Watts said: “Blaise can’t train until she gets new boots.

"She has a competition coming up in a months time and will now need to work her new boots in.

“Ice skates are rather costly but are really no use to anyone.

"My daughter is very upset and nervous that somebody has been through our car, under our window and on our driveway.

“We got up at 6am to go to training and I told Blaise to get her skates out of the boot and she told me they weren’t there.

“I checked the garage incase I had put them there, but I knew I hadn’t.

“When I re-checked the car boot I realised other things had gone, including dance costumes and a first aid kit.

“Whoever was in there had also looked in the glove box and middle compartment.

“I’m so upset and angry to think that selfish people can ruin things for your child who loves her skating.”

Mrs Watts, who also runs a dance school, added that the costumes stolen were to be used at an upcoming show in June and cost around £600.

Police spokesman James Walker said: “Police received a report that items were stolen from a vehicle parked in Frobisher Way, Greenhithe.

“The offence is reported to have taken place between 11pm on 10 April and 5am on 11 April 2019.

“Items stolen include ice skates and clothing.

“At present no arrests have been made and initial enquiries are under way."
