Gravesend captain Jamie Forsythe powers through during their impressive win over Chichester
Gravesend went back to the top of London 1 South following their 26-13 win over Chichester – the only other unbeaten team in the division.
The visitors took a 3-0 lead in the first minute at Rectory Field on Saturday and it was 8-0 after 25 minutes, only for Clements to pull back a try for the home side before the break.
After some staunch defence, Gravesend went ahead with two penalty kicks.
The visitors went 13-11 ahead with a second try but Gray kicked his third penalty to make it 14-13 and Clements scored his second try to make it 19-13.
As Chichester chased the game, Moorey ran in the Gs’ third try and Gray converted to finish with an 11-point haul.
Skipper Jamie Forsythe heaped praise on his squad after a fine team win. He said: "They played a full game, used their brains, played with heart and produced some good positional kicking in the second half against worthy opposition."
