Angels, wise men, Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and a donkey. With a cast list like that, it must be Nativity time.
Key Stage 1 and nursery pupils at St Joseph’s Preparatory School, Gravesend, performed theirs on Thursday before an audience which included the rest of the school, their parents and Gravesham Mayor Cllr Greta Goatley.
A carol service was held for all pupils and their parents the next day at St John’s Church, in Parrock Street, Gravesend, and they were joined by the mayor again.
Head teacher Elizabeth Hill said: “It was amazing, most people were in tears by the end of it.
“It was beautiful singing and the children did a wonderful job.”
Key Stage 2 pupils dressed up to create a Nativity tableau during the carols, which were led by the chamber choir.
At Chantry Academy’s Nativity, they honoured the timeless tradition with kings, shepherds and wise men aplenty turning out for a seasonal sing-along.
However, there was a twist on the biblical tale, with some youngsters choosing to dress up as reindeer and even Snow White.
