Hartley Country Club’s pursuit of Kent Cricket League 1st XI Premier Division leaders Bromley was thwarted by the elements on Saturday.
James Hockley, pictured, finished with figures of 4-39 in helping to dismiss Sevenoaks Vine for 190, but the onset of rain prevented a start to Hartley’s reply.
Club-mates Hartley 2nds did, however, beat the weather to stun 2nd XI Division 1 leaders Whitstable with an eight-wicket win.
Peter Jordan (3-4) did most of the damage in helping dismiss the visitors for 113 and when Hartley openers Patrick Underwood (29) and Nick Levinton (29) made a strong start an upset looked on the cards.
David Thompson’s unbeaten 37 sealed the win as the team reached 116-2.
