A heroic teenager who rushed to the aid of a man having a seizure on a bus has been praised.
Sean Young, 17, was given an award by the police for his quick-thinking actions when an elderly passenger fell ill on a bus travelling through Gravesend in September.
He was presented with a District Commander's Award by chief inspector Andy Gadd at the North Kent police station yesterday.
Sean was travelling along Old Road East on the bus on Thursday, September 13, just before 4pm when the incident happened.
While the man was having a seizure the Gravesend resident attempted to assist him after he had called the ambulance service.
A police community support officer (PCSO) was flagged down by the bus driver and when he rushed on board he saw Sean helping to elderly man.
The 17-year-old then informed the PCSO what had happened, allowing the officer to brief paramedics in full, when they arrived, what had happened.
Chief inspector for the police Andy Gadd said: "Sean showed exemplary courage, selflessness and compassion despite being exposed to an unexpected and distressing event.
"He put the needs of the patient before his own and in doing so was able to relay important information to emergency crews, who were able to provide the best possible treatment.
"It was a pleasure to meet him at the police station and I wish him all the best with his future endeavours."
