High-profile Conservative David Davis visits Gravesend
11:16, 29 April 2010
Conservative heavyweight David Davis has been on the campaign trail in Gravesend.
The former shadow home secretary met shoppers on Thursday morning with Gravesham's Conservative candidate Adam Holloway.
He said that he opposed government plans to sell off the Dartford Crossing to a private company, fearing it would hit motorists in the pocket.
Mr Davis also pledged to fight a Kent County Council bid to build a new Thames crossing east of Gravesend, claiming it would threaten precious marshland.
He was due to later tour Gravesham schools and businesses with Mr Holloway.
