A hotel manager confiscated a mother-of-two's car keys after she saw her reverse into a car outside a Premier Inn while intoxicated.
Kelly Morgan, 51 - who admits to having a drinking problem - got in her Vauxhall Corsa which had been parked at the Premier Inn in Gravesend, during the middle of the night when she was more than four times the legal limit.
She was spotted by a manager leaving her hotel room and the worker thought she was "visibly intoxicated".
Morgan, of Jubilee Crescent, Gravesend, then got into her car and sat in the driver's seat for half-an-hour before reversing into another car.
The manager of the hotel in Hever Court Road, who has witnessed what she had done on May 24, then went out into the car park, took the key from Morgan and called the police.
When officers arrived 15 minutes later Morgan's car was parked sideways across the spaces and she was given a breath test.
Morgan gave a reading of 154 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
She was charged with drink-driving and admitted the offence when she appeared before magistrates in Medway on June 29, but at the time said there were special reasons why she'd got into the car.
The case was adjourned until Wednesday, when Morgan returned to the same court to hear her fate.
Lorraine Webb, prosecuting, told the court Morgan had two previous convictions for being in charge of a vehicle with excess alcohol and was found guilty by trial of one of the offences in 2011.
She added: "The manager saw her leaving her hotel room and she look visibly intoxicated."
Magistrates were also told Morgan was no longer claiming she had special reasons to get behind the wheel that night and that they should sentence her.
Wayne Crowhurst, defending, said: "She accepts she has a problem with alcohol.
"She's got two children and has been a community carer for eight years but suffers from depression and anxiety which is medicated and she was in a bad relationship. She's now separated.
"She's now not working as she needs time to take care of herself as she needs help. She is a binge drinker and is on benefits."
Magistrates told Morgan she'd given a very high reading and jailed her for 12 weeks for the offence but suspended the term for 12 months.
She was also ordered to complete a 12-month alcohol treatment requirement and 15 rehabilitation sessions.
Morgan was also banned from driving for 30 months and ordered to pay £100 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
If she completes a drink-driving course, her ban will be reduced by a quarter.
