Tea lights ignited for a religious observance set fire to other materials and caused a house fire in Valley Drive, Gravesend

Tea lights ignited for a religious observance set light to other materials and caused a house fire.

10 firefighters were sent out to Valley Drive at 5.42pm after a 999 call.

It was reported tea lights and oil used as part of a religious event but the flames got out of control.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to identify any hotspots and a range of tools to cut away material so that they could be dealt with.

It was slow burning and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled it using a high pressure hose reel jet.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke and fumes from the property.

There are no reports of any injuries and the cause is being listed as accidental.

Crews had put out the flames but 6.07pm.
