Sikh community donates scrubs to Darent Valley Hospital

The Sikh community has donated more than 300 pairs of scrubs to medical staff battling Covid-19.
Manpreet Singh Dhaliwal, Mukh Sewadar of the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Gravesend, presented 350 pieces of PPE to Darent Valley Hospital.
Darent Valley's need for scrubs became apparent when Manpreet’s wife Sandeep, a doctor, came home and mentioned there was a shortage at her work.
The first step was to find a supplier, but no one had any stock, so 1,000 metres of cotton was flown in from Indonesia through a London wholesaler.
After calling factories all over the South East and London, the gurdwara found a company in Leicester which could manufacture the scrubs.
Manpreet said: "As Sikhs, it is our duty to play our part in serving humanity, hence the reason we have helped the NHS staff.
"I am very grateful to those who have managed to manufacture these scrubs in just over a week.”
