10:36, 25 August 2014
An investigation is underway after a fire broke out in the basement level of Gravesham Community Hospital last night.
Three fire crews, two from Thames-side and one from Strood, were called to the scene just after 11.30pm.
The fire had started in the laundry room of the hospital and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in 20 minutes before clearing the smoke from the room.
One fire engine was still at the scene two hours later.
A spokesman from Thames-side said: "Police and fire investigation teams are looking at the cause of the fire.
"The fire hasn't compromised the use of the hospital."
Firefighters from Thames-side were also called to an accidental car fire in Waterlow Road, Vigo at 9.38pm.
The owner was at the scene but the car was destroyed by the fire.
