The closures coincide with another massive project to replace a bridge on the A2 at Bean near Bluewater which will see the dual carriageway closed for a whole weekend.

The A2 work, part of a £112 million upgrade by Highways England, will take place between 10pm on Friday, August 6 and 6am on Monday, August 9.

The Londonbound carriageway will be shut from Ebbsfleet all the way to the M25 with the coastbound stretch closed between the entry and exit sliproads at the Bean junction.

Meanwhile the closed roads through Gravesend are set to cause travel disruption for thousands of drivers around the town.

Southern Gas Networks is starting work at Valley Drive from today until August 31 between St Benedict's Avenue and Whitehill Lane.

This will involve upgrades to the gas supply network.

Over the same weekend as the A2 closure, BT will also be carrying out works in the neighbouring St Patrick's Gardens off Valley Drive.

A diversion route is in place via Hever Court Road, Singlewell Road and Old Road East to rejoin Valley Drive.

The work is due to be completed on September 3.

Diversions are in place via Old Road West, Darnley Road, Clive Road and Rathmore Road.
