A man was arrested after a police car with a dog inside was rammed into several times.
At around 3am yesterday officers asked a vehicle to stop in Woodlands Lane, Shorne, but it failed to do so.
After a short pursuit, which included the car ramming the police vehicle several times, it came to a halt in nearby Brewers Road.
Police dog Lenny was in the car which was being rammed but was still able to detain a man after being released.
Lenny and 'his chauffeur' were not injured, said police.
A 25-year-old man from Gravesend was arrested on suspicion of stealing a car and drug driving.
He was later released under investigation.
A tweet from the force's tactical operations Twitter, two hours after it happened, said: "PD Lenny’s taxi was rammed several times in the early hours during a proactive vehicle stop.
"Thankfully neither Lenny or his chauffeur were injured.
"The driver was swiftly detained by Lenny after alighting from the vehicle. The male is now very much in custody."
