A 27-year-old has been charged with robbery after a car-jacking in an Asda car park.
It was reported a man was sitting in an Audi A3 outside the supermarket in Greenhithe, near Dartford, last week when another man approached and smashed one of the windows.
The suspect is alleged to have struck the victim with a weapon before stealing the Audi and driving away at around 5.20pm on Thursday.
Police quickly tracked the car to a location close to junction 30 of the M25 at Thurrock, where it had been involved in a collision.
At around 6pm, a 27-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody with assistance from Essex Police.
Lawrence Robinson, of no fixed address, was then charged with robbery and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on both November 26 and 28.
He has not entered a plea and has been remanded in custody.
His next hearing is scheduled at Maidstone Crown Court on January 3.
The victim was taken to hospital and treated for head and facial injuries. These were not life threatening.
A spokesman for Asda said at the time: "We are aware of the incident and are assisting the police with their inquiries."
