Man escapes flat as bed blaze breaks out

Firefighters were called to tackle a blazing bed in a Gravesend flat.
The occupant, a man his 50s, managed to escape when a fire broke out in the bedroom of the Valley Drive property on Tuesday.
Ten firefighters from Thames-side station spent half-an-hour at the scene soon after 2pm.
The bed went up in flames and the flat was badly smoke damaged, but no-one was injured.
Investigators were due to probe the cause of the fire.
