Man 'attacked with metal pole' in Hillingdon Road, Gravesend

A victim of an assault says he was beaten, kicked and hit with a metal pole before managing to get away in his van.

The man was left with head, shoulder and back injuries after the attack on Saturday at 7.50am in Hillingdon Road near Gravesend.

The victim said he was unlocking his van before two men approached him with one of them punching him which made him fall to the floor.

While on the ground, he continued to be assaulted with the attackers allegedly using a metal pole to hit him on the head.

The man was kicked in his back and shoulder before he was able to get into his vehicle and drive to a nearby road where he called 999.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The suspects were both described as in their 20s and between 5ft 10in and 6ft.

One was said to be white and wore a black jacket with a woolly hat while the other was said to be black and wearing a balaclava over his face, a black jacket and black bike gloves.

Police are asking for witnesses who may have seen the men matching the same description.
